Thomas M. Sullivan

Tom Sullivan (Thomas M. Sullivan, b. about 1951) is a business news anchor for the Fox Business Network, who also hosts a syndicated radio talk show on the Fox News Radio network.

A Seattle native, he moved to the Sacramento, California area in 1975, and now lives in the New York City area.

After graduating from Seattle University, Sullivan was a tax accountant for Price Waterhouse.

According to anecdotes on his radio talk show, he served with the Washington State Patrol in his early 20's before moving to Sacramento.

Tom Sullivan is widely recognized in the Sacramento area not only for his radio show, but also for his work as financial editor for both KFBK and for KCRA-TV 3 dating back to the 1980s, and for his position as Founder and Managing Director of The Sullivan Group.

Sullivan's radio talk show began in July 1988 on weekday afternoons from 1:00 to 4:00 p.m. Pacific on KFBK, and the show took and has held number one ratings ever since. In 2007, Sullivan left Sacramento to host a show on the Fox Business Network, a new cable TV channel. His radio show became nationally syndicated by Fox News Radio, and continues to air on Sirus and XM radio, and on its former home station KFBK in its 12 noon to 3 p.m. Pacific weekday time slot.

Self-described as "fiscally conservative, socially it-depends", the success of his show, and his personal friendship with Rush Limbaugh whom he met at KFBK in the early 1980s, resulted in his occasional appearance as a stand-in host on The Rush Limbaugh Show. Sullivan's prior investment group is The Sullivan Group that Limbaugh cites as the official auditor of his claim to be "documented to be almost always right" 99.6% of the time.

Sullivan was a guest host for Limbaugh's show for many years, but no longer fills in for Limbaugh due to starting his own national show. Jason Lewis replaced him in the substitute host rotation.

About Tom Sullivan's business with The Sullivan Group: Tom Sullivan was a managing director of The Sullivan Group, a brokerage he founded in 1980 and sold to Prudential Securities in 1986. During this time, Tom joined the Wall Street firm Prudential Securities while his prior Sullivan Group partners started their own advisory firm.

After a series of brokerage firm mergers and the transition of the group between different brokerage houses, Tom Sullivan retired from The Sullivan Group of Wachovia Securities in 2007 to pursue his media career at FOX in New York City. The remaining eight group members, including his son and Vice President Brad Sullivan CFP, left The Sullivan Group of Wachovia Securities to join The Sullivan Group at Morgan Stanley.

In September 2009, two of Tom's former partners left Morgan Stanley to start their own advisory firm under the same name, while the remaining five members, including Brad Sullivan, stayed with The Sullivan Group at Morgan Stanley and changed their name to Sullivan Wealth Management Team.

As of 2010, both separate teams, "Sullivan Wealth Management Team at Morgan Stanley Smith Barney" and the independent advisory firm "The Sullivan Group" operate out of Roseville, California; a suburb near Sacramento. While Tom's son Brad and his team are with Morgan Stanley, there is no "Sullivan" associated with the other advisory group made up Tom's two former partners.
